Marble Shower Floor Staining

This stain just appeared on our shower floor a couple weeks ago.

The tile store i found the tile at says they install marble all the time and have never had a problem help. Water stains are yet another common stain that occurs on marble. So things like lemon juice wine some household bathroom cleaners fruits and many other household items chemically react with the marble surface and actually dissolves part of the top surface of the marble. And cleaning marble rust stains is tricky.

It literally just appeared one day. Once it s dry 12 to 24 hours scrape the paste off and wipe with a damp cloth. Unlike in your kitchen dining room or on your floors you aren t likely to use anything in your shower that will stain the marble tiles. Etch marks occur when your marble encounters an acidic substance.

Can marble be used for shower floors. Mold can stain marble bathroom countertops floors etc. Additionally you typically need to seal marble to prevent staining and you are very unlikely to stain the marble tiles in your shower with just regular bath products. I can t find a porcelain tile similar to what i want.

It stains shows dirt and looks worse over time. It seems like it is under the surface of the tile. For deep set stains you may need to reapply paste. I am afraid to try anything else.

Most marble comes that way but double check with the dealer when you re purchasing it or else no amount of cleaning will keep your materials pristine. If there is a stain though we haven t yet had one in here i make a natural marble poultice from mixing baking soda and water to create a paste smear the paste over the stain and cover it with cling wrap to keep the poultice in place. I thought it was soap scum at first but it is some kind of stain. If water leaches into the tile it can cause the iron to rust.

To remove stubborn stains use a poultice paste. If your shower floor is made of marble brown stains might be caused by rust. I have tried marble cleaner and magic eraser. These stains can be the result of a water glass that was left on a marble countertop for too long or from hard water buildup around sinks and showers.

Wash it off after 12 24 hours and the stain should be gone. Marble is a porous stone and if it is not sealed it may stain so before you install marble tiles in your shower make sure you ve chosen a sealed version. Some people say yes as long as it s sealed well others have told me no never. I found some beautiful tumbled marble 2x2 tiles for my shower floor.

You see this most often on marble floor tile but certainly can occur on shower walls if water is getting behind the tiles providing enough moisture to leach into the marble tiles oxidize the iron deposits within the marble and carry the rusty water to the surface staining the tile.
